Nikon did stop making scopes about 4 + years ago. If you need warranty service you'll get a gift card good at the Nikon store for whatever you want, except a scope. A few friends have found that out first hand and I have 1 scope that has fogged up and the other has something loose inside of the tube. I can't wait to get a gift card. I picked up Riton Optics 5 Primal 10x42Ed bino about 4 months ago. They key for me was glass clarity and weight. I use them for waterfowl hunting and would have no issues tucking them inside my jacket while fishing big water and looking for feeding birds. They aren't cheap but do go on sale on occasion.
