Funny how that is. Very few people wish to put in the effort
BOTH is the answer ....
folks always ask to hunt on our place , many want to "help" us with our predators and hogs ......
funny thing is , NONE want to work work work .....cause that is what we mostly do on the little woodlot , that and spend lots of money on it as well ....
H on the other hand will work work work and pay for the corn and food and gas to hunt the place ....
this is why he has a key and is allowed to go whenever he wants ....
he gets to hunt for "free " ......
just saying ......

Always nice to have a good friend who puts in time an effort for the betterment of a piece of property in exchange for the privilege to hunt.

Yup, we had people want to hunt our land as well and just expect to for free. On top of that they don't respect the land or treat it good. H is a good one.

I always contended that if you sent ten hunters into the woods, one at a time, and told them to select a stand site, that they would mostly choose all the same spots. So one day I selected a spot that no one would want to hunt and it really paid off for me. It was like the deer avoided all the “good sites”.
Anyways, trying a new location is always exciting and brings lots of anticipation. Hope that man with the saw catches up to them coons for you.

Sounds like "Little Red Hen" syndrome, eh? Lots of that these days. Satisfaction is derived by how personal you get involved in the journey says I.

I had that same deal for years at a tree farm that was loaded with deer & turkey. I worked out there way more than I hunted. About the time we got it as good as it could be, the property owner leased it to somebody & I got screwed out of a fantastic place to hunt just 4 days before the start of turkey season. It sure hurt to lose access to that place and my relationship with the owner suffered big time. Now, I help out at a couple of horse farms, which is better than nothing, but barely.

once worked an entire summer building fence for an ex marine corp drill master , man was it NOT fun in that rock terrain , the upside was the trade off for a chance at a buck we saw that was a dream buck ....
2 days before season the neighbor said someone was shining the field and shooting and he had to call the game warden to come get that big monster buck out his front yard where it died !![]()
