Default Boogered em up GOOD !

went out to whack a turkey , some yeehaws beat me to it and were set up all over the place scaring the ever loving you know what out of them , sure did ruin what would have been an easy bird hunt ......
heard ONLY one short heavy gobble back in the heavy stuff and went in and tried to slick him , but as we all know once folks spook them good it is about not going to be easy to whack them , they aint bright but get call shy and wary when folks start playing the I know how to call them thing ....
in these parts you run and gun if you want to kill a decent gobbler , the sit and call thing is wasting time and ruining the chance to slick one for sure , only jakes are dumb enough to run into a set up with a blind and and decoys and a bunch of store bought calls .....darn it I say ....

    Who is that masked gunslinger?

Could it be the famous Mr. KABOOM in disguise? Me think so.

    You have Rios or Easterns?
I agree, my plan is eat breakfast, head out about 0930.
By then they are done with the local girls, and ready to respond.
All I need to know is a location, we have lots of hills and benches over here.

we have Rios and from hundreds of past hunts , they are super easy to whack if you do it right , setting up with decoys and calling ain't the ticket for the monster gobblers , them birds typically got a harem and even when they don't they are really likely to be just smart enough to avoid a "hen" and or set up that isnt moving at all .....just saying ....
and we used to watch them lots on a place for a few years and hens typically go to gobblers to get bred , so a still one calling in the same place aint the way it works and the big boys know it .....
cackle once , get a gobble and walk that way , 2 to 3 minutes and cackle again ....if he answers .....close the distance in full stealth mode and do not walk out in the open when doing this , cackle one more time as you close in and if he is receptive and moving to you , when it makes you about jump out your socks on the next gobble , sit down quick in a bush where you can see in the direction of the gobble ,gun up and ready and concrete still and just puuurrr a little bit ....
    KABOOM is very near ....
called run and gun and super deadly when done right ....

Be careful out there, yahoo's like that are notorious for stalking a man making good calls. scares the beejeebers out of me when hunting public woods.

KaBoom was the word for me Sunday morning. There's one less suicidal 2 year old gobbler in the woods around here. I love hunting turkeys almost as much as I love them at the end of a fork. Got one more tag to go...I just wish it would quit raining on weekends.

We've had rain every Saturday for the past 2 months, so if you're praying for rain, please quit.
