Couple weeks ago they were really active around the lake. About 4 flew over me into the woods while I was fishing. They sure make a bunch of noise considering the peaceful surroundings.

Starting to see more birds here. The big winter flocks are breaking up. Should be a fun season. My hunt is last week of April. Can't hunt turkeys near feeders can you?

This is Texas bro , we can use high powered rifles over feeders if we want to , there is actually an art to hammering with rifles , killed about as many with a rifle as a shotgun here myself .
You shoot turkey with a rifle right where the leg meets the body in the hip when it’s broadside.
Otherwise you ruin it and or it flies/runs away , they can take lead really well and them turkey heads bob terribly, so head shots are low percentage most of the time .
Seen way way many birds get hammered and run or fly away myself, it amazes me how well they take KABOOM, I remember one big Tom taking a head shot with a shotgun at 20 yards and one when he rose about 2 foot of the ground and a third as he left in a cloud of feathers and soared above the tree line till he was a speck in the distance …not making that one up either, stalked him for 45 minutes to get the perfect range and shot.
Of course that was back when , now I have shotgun I tuned up JUST for turkey, 3 inch mag 12 with an extra extra full turkey choke , hurts me about as much as the bird when I touch it off , but to be very clear, they don’t get away from me now ,,,,
Quit shooting them with a rifle about 20 years ago , not much of a challenge.

I gotcha. I'm back to hunting with a .410 with a diamond reticle scope for turkeys, #9 shot. Just can't see the bead on my Benelli well enough anymore and the 3.5" turkey loads sure enough will pound ya! Like the challenge up close with gobblers. Only seems fair with them having a brain the size of a pea

Heard one while letting the dogs out to potty the other day. They are so rare around here anymore I don't hunt them and I don't allow anybody else to hunt them on my property. Its sad seeing how many were around when I bought the place to now.

I see your feeder has staked legs so the hogs don’t push it over. Wire cage so the coons can’t savage the whirler thingie. I want to set something like this up at my dump. Can you recommend a brand to get and how do you get the corn inside…..stand in truck bed ?
Maybe they will bite this one……
