Thread: Skylar’s December rut buck

Skylar don’t get to hunt much with me anymore since she went and grew up on me. But we had a great hunt in early December. She has never been much at sitting over a corn feeder. She had been sitting on a pinch point where a creek and a high hill tapered toward a small bottom. A group of does trailed by a really nice buck came down through a thicket and crossed the creek. She couldn’t get a shot on that buck. A while later some does and another buck came back from the same direction the first group went. Skylar used a grunt call and this buck, slammed across the creek, jumped over the top of a cattle gate and stopped 25 yards from her. She shot him with a .270. He ran 30 yards. No a really wide buck, but an older mature buck. He’s broken off a tine from an earlier picture we had of him. Good mass on him.

boy howdy that was a boo boo at that range with a 270 , surprised he went that far is me , nice mature animal for sure , congrats to her
