extended season no spikes cooperated
even went so far as to watch an 8 point and 5 point stand around an hour, the VERY last hour of spike season and eat all the corn under the feeder!

Archery season 20 years ago sitting in a ground blind behind my house. Heard rattling antlers. Then four does go screaming right past me. I set the bow at my feet to get my back pack on and look up. There he is 20 feet away. Huge ten pointer soaked in sweat panting away. Then just like that he was gone. That was the last day of archery season. The next day he was standing in my yard, servicing a doe. I walked out back and they just looked at me, and went right back at it. I am still mad about that one.

We are by no means out of venison my friend , probably have at least one in the freezer , we never eat the entire deer each year .
I usually give lots away when I harvest the next one , didn’t get to do it this year though

Time to start scouting and preparing for next year, eh? My wife and I eat 2 deer a year and would put a dent in a third if I would get the chance!
