    Default His First Ever Hunt

So we decided to try and take my grandson on a deer hunt . He is 3.5 and not "really" ready to sit still enough long enough to hunt , but why not right
So we opted for the you sit with GiGi and mini Kaboom in the big grey family blind and Pappy will sit about 150 yards down the fence line in the black blind....
Well , he first off said YES lets go .but Pappy I don't have a gun .....
So here we go, snacks ready , drinks ready , binos ready , etc etc etc .....
Got in the blinds about 3 30 , saw out first deer at about 3 45 and then more and more started to come out of the woods.
Soon there was a herd of them and THEN it happened ....Gigi sends the text that someone has to go poo poo ....
Well off they went and the deer just kinda watched and then back they came after they took care of business ....
soon 2 big bucks came out with about 7 or 8 smaller bucks.
Watched them for a good while , but as I told my wife the wind is blowing strange and swirling, a bit west and bit east and a bit south and toss in some north too, so it aint really likely we are going to get a big buck ....
Well about 5 15 it HAPPENED, the best buck on the place jumps the fence and heads straight to me ...!
Man, he looks good as he closes the distance and at about 100 yards out, up came the rifle
at about 75 turns broadside to jump into our place, ketchn is gunna KABOOM him when he hits our side and he hesitates on the wrong side of the fence .... the wind abruptly tickles my neck, and he looks hard in my direction. Seems to not care and moves to jump in and goes by in a flash as he jumps in, no chance for a shot.
I turn and change windows to whack him when he hits the clearing in front of me and notice several other deer following him towards my location out of the corner of my eye . Well the big doe in the lead gets to right where he stopped and looks at the blind and does the sniff test and of COURSE , loses her you know what and blows and flags and leaves the way she came scattering all the other deer with her and .....THEN mister big comes back in the BIG AIR across the fence and as they say poof they was gone ...
Now keep this in mind , they only went about 75 yards to the next place over and then just went back to being deer at 150 or so out and made me about say some really bad stuff.
AND a minute later or so as I watch them the wind turns and blows in my FACE !
Sure was thinking what GREAT way to end his first ever hunt holding a big ole rack in his hands , but it is what it is .....
man that deer came really close to KABOOM for sure ....
p.s. about dark thirty when it was time to head back to camp ,he got due him a lil rabbit stalking too ....
sometimes NO KABOOM and not getting a deer is fun too .....told me he saw at least a hundred deer, wife said yep , for sure related to you mister Ketchn ....
and yes I got witnesses to this hunting story as well ................

Sometimes we want it too much and have to be put in our place. Even when we don't want it all for ourselves. Great memories made for sure.
