Had time to go today...But wind direction is not good for this stand today or tomorrow.. So I stayed home and worked on my old 4 wheeler shift box so I can sell it.. Tomorrow afternoon may be OK for one of my spots

Helped a guy here in town pull one in and went to his place for a pig roast. Boy was that stuff good! He has a big bar-b-q he made from a 55gal barrel. he started a fire in it with Juniper and got it going good with lots of wood and let it burn all night. next morning he wrapped the hog in tin foil and put in in there and coooked over the coals about 12 hrs. Boy was that good!

Had time and good wind direction for one of my older hog stands. Acorns are falling pretty good here right now so the hogs can get them anywhere... Right after legal shooting light a 5 point buck comes in, he eats a few acorns and hits a licking branch but not the scrape. He is nervous and I am hoping he hears some hogs..after 15-20 minutes he gets down wind and he starts wind checking and looking for me.. He ran off blowing for 400 yards...then a spike strolls by and heads to the wet lands for a drink..then I see a good buck running a doe out in the cut, he looks good but not big enough for my 3rd buck (club rules).. Ended up seeing 8 deer total and NO HOGS...sitting in a stand now that I have not sat in since late October.. There is some hogs sign here so there is a chance to hear or see some..Name: 1203221609_HDR.jpg

Slept in this morning.. Got into this stand a little before 4pm. Very overcast now, maybe some hogs will come by before dark.. There are 3 of us hunting this afternoon..we are spread out on this 3000 acres so one of us should have some luck..Name: 1204221609_HDR.jpg

well no hogs, just 3 does that walked 20 yards behind me. They caught my scent, looked around..and just slowly walked away. I heard some movement at last light in the short pines to the right..Could have been the does again? One of my buddys tried to head shoot a hog but missed..

good hunting but it's so hit or miss. I went one time and amazing the stink at their wallows and were they hang out.

Love the video's of the guys with the traps that can get a whole sounder in at once with the camera's that let them drop it at best opp. so much more productive to get em that way.

Sometimes the land owner tells us to shoot more hogs since they will root up the small planted pines.. This place is thick and it's hard to get one out in the open..a few years ago We had a trapper come in with 6 ft x 10 ft portable traps.. The hogs got trap smart real quick, think he might have got 5 or 6?..now we call a guy with dogs and he live catches 60 or more in 3 or 4 days. He worked our neighbors 4000 acre cattle ranch property 5 or 6 years ago..said he got just over 1000 hogs off of it. It is wetlands, planted pines and improved pastures..

hogs in thick stuff are tough to get a bead on for sure , luck to ya ....
the expert trappers here run those remotely triggered traps off their phones , kinda like spylock cams , they really rack them up with them things .
the dog food place 20 miles away pays by the pound for live feral hogs
