Darn, hate that for you.
with this truck !
12 years I ran this puppy all thru the deer country at high speeds and yesterday KABOOM at 5:45 am !
Did it go well for the deer you might ask ? NOPE it sailed like a rag doll and my truck got ouched pretty darn good a near 70 on the impact !
Thank god for the brush/cattle guard on the front , sure would have ruined the truck without it .
She was crossing slowly when we saw her and I expected her to bolt and she never did and by the time my old man brain realized it was not going to end well it was over .
killed her on impact it did and we just kept on trucking, we had to get to the woods before first light to hog hunt ....
truck is fairly ok for such a hard impact , got a few bruises and dents but didn't harm it much and we avoided the ditch as that might have been our demise as well .
AND to top it off the big boar ran off after taking a 30 06 behind the shoulder at 50 yards
some days are better than others for sure .....
and YES KABOOOM was the word ....

I lived in deer country most of my life. Was very proud of my no deer accidents record. Then one day I had a deer run into my bumper but no damage was done to my big Dodge truck or the deer. I figured no harm no foul. My record took a "hit" though while transporting my son to college. Deer ran into the front, bounced off the road and got hit by our Jeep Cherokee again. Doubled up on one deer! Dead deer, plenty of damage but drivable. Sometimes unavoidable. My best technique to this day if I see a deer: slow down, prepare to brake, and lay on the horn until past where the deer was sighted. Seems to work for me. Glad to hear no one was injuried.

My wife bought a brand new cherry red Chevy Traverse in the summer of 2020.Going to work about three months later she bumped one at 60mph...$8,500 in damage, got it fixed up pretty. Six weeks later coming home from work one broad sided her right behind the drivers door...$2,500 for that fix.lol
to be sure I miss "most" of them and mostly know what they are "about" to do when I see them but there are them there ones that ain't acting right from the git go , last one I hit was quite a while back , it was a yearling and went under the truck on impact and according to the driver behind me came out in 2 pcs !
one big buck though at about 55 hit my other truck or vice versa in about the same manner as this big ole doe and he did almost the same type of damage to ole dodge as well, back in the day, brush guard saved it as well , just saying

As fragile as trucks are these days a brush guard is a good idea

been driving for 56 years often thru country with lots o deer and havn't had close encounter yet. Attribute that with being ADD which means your aware of everything around you all the time and still have reflex's of a 35 yo thanks to my competitive Raquetball every week.
Dang it now that i've proclaimed this will have to report I hit one soon! LOL.
can't believe you didn't stop and toss her in back for the meat. At least you whacked a big boar who will probably die and one less in the herd and you wouldn't want to eat that one anyway.
