That's a fine Pup. I had a Chocolate about 10 years ago. She was a real good one herself. Sure do miss that one. She was almost a mind reader.

She has been the smartest one I have owned. We rescued her from an abusive situation at 12 weeks old and she has been showing me her appreciation ever since.

Layla the Chocolate was one eager to please dog. She was a real Gem. Ladybug the German Shepherd is calculated and cunning. She is too smart for my own good. Much like children the more time you invest in them the better they turn out

Thats a great dog. Way to find the deer. There is a niche business around here with tracking dogs. They usually charge 100 just to show up and $1/1" gratuity if its recovered.
Love the chocolate lab. My old chocolate Molly retrieved thousands of birds. Cancer got her in 2019.

a good dog on a lost deer is just all that , we used to have a harlequin great dane that was the best dog I ever seen on tracking
she was self taught and had only one intention and that was to eat the deer when she found it .
we tracked a liver shot 8 one day several hundred yards and at the second stop where there was good blood after none for a long way .
I told the fella that shot it , to watch my dog close , she will find the deer and drag it off if you dont keep an eye on her .
I was looking at the blood when I told him that and when I looked up she was gone !
found her about 75 yards away dragging his big 8 UP the hill towards my truck and to be sure wasn't eager to give up the guys deer !
she had a reputation in our area and we even used her to track aoudad bow kills a few times with good success rates .
someone stole her when she was about 6 years old from my yard when we were at work one day
made me incredibly unhappy to lose her , she was a great part of my family and my 4 year old daughter rode her like a horse
congrats on a fine dog sir , nothing quite like a great dog for sure ...

I have no plans for that. Wounded deer are enough for her. She has gotten horned 3 times so far but is learning what to do in those situations.

My passion is pheasant hunting but....All 4 of the labs that I've had in the last forty years have found deer my friends or I have wounded, they make it look so easy. I've seen them do things pheasant hunting over the years that are down right amazing in ground tracking and nose up zig-zagging the wind tracking.
Congratulations to you and Scout, you saved a lot of venison from going to waste and made some young hunters extremely happy!
