Approxment Ballistics numbers...as always shooting paper or ringing painted steel is best for actual bullet drop at longer ranges.

The three shot vertical group is the result of barrel heat.

I shoot 150 mostly out of my remington 700 30 06 and have it set 2 inches high at 100 , i shoot 180 sometimes as well .
never seen much in difference on accuracy myself and have used several brands of ammo .
but I rarely stretch myself much past 175 to 200 ....like about almost never ....

Back when I was bench loading the 150 was the best weight for the 30:06. I don’t remember the powder charge but I set it 3” high at 100 and it was dead in at 300. And 2 ½ low at 400. If I remember right. The 180 grain didn’t hold up,as well or group as tight. In my 700.

I remember the gun writers back in the day talking about using the 180 gr 06 to take the heavy North American game

my dad had an army issue 03 he used in NRA matches in the way early 60z, he had several metals he won with it , paid 13 dollars for it from the army .
not sure what weight he used in it , but he was sure enough proud of that 50 dollar peep sight he put on it
he told me there wasn't an animal on the earth an 06 wouldn't put down

Those were very nice pieces of iron. Very elegant in their fit, feel and functionality. If you believe the gun experts the 06 was suitable for all North American game up to medium African Plains game with the right bullet construction and loading. That certainly says a lot for such an iconic cartridge. It is certainly the benchmark for many other rounds.
