Thanks. Yep, 06 is a great round. That said, I'm passing it on to my son after this season. He is hunting out West next year and I want to try a 450 Bushmaster.

Going with a bolt gun or a semi auto platform in the 450? It is an impressive round. I played around with the 50 Beowolf when it came out. It was a similar round it had some gusto down range

Bolt. Remington 783 Tactical Heavy Barrel. Legal statewide in Michigan, even the shotgun zone, and most of my shots are 100 yards or less. I like the extra gusto too!

I saw one in a Ruger bolt gun with a muzzle break. I should have snatched it up. It was at a good price. When I went back it was gone

Might be the camera angle, but that deer looks like it has a big body?

Some camera angle, but the deer does have a big body. All rutted up too.

congrats sir , might use 180 in mine for hogs sometimes ,but like 150 for the reach out and touch them like at&t thing
an 06 with the right operator and ammo is flat out deadly way out there no matter what the critics say .
have taken deer past 200 with mine and my first ever with that rifle was at 224 and dropped like a bird in a puff a fur when i let it rip !
wish i had video of that one for sure , my older daughter took her first deer with it at about 125 and it was a dandy mature 8 and she high shoulder shot him and somewhere i have high def extra slow mo video of that hunt , he also got "puffed" and his legs literally folded up under him on the shot !
sighted in at 2 inches high at 100 ,puts it about dead on at 200 and with only a 9 power that is about as far out as you can really pinpoint shot placement well , used to shoot "gongs" with mine at 200 for practice and a 12 inch circle looks pretty small thru a 9 power
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales

Years ago shooting with a fence post for support I killed 2 does at 327 paces. On my 2nd and 3rd shots. Didn't know I connected on the 2nd shot until I went to recover the deer from the 3rd shot. Luckily, we had a pile of land owner permits. Shot a decent doe today. 50 yard shot, she went 40 yards toward the road. Ended up only had to drag her 50 yards. I planned on an easy hunt this morning, but this was way easier than I could've thought possible. Shot was in front of shoulder and exited behind opposite shoulder. She was sidestepping that 40 yards before dropping. Tons of fat on her, much more than my buck. Only 7 miles difference in location.
