    Default NO KABOOM !

But , man did we have fun ! Saw a ton of deer , no hogs , no turkey . Could have been some "shots fired" ,but it wasn't us .
One neighbor or 2 let some lead fly though and we joked about the big ten hanging in their yard !
Ate a dandy lunch of carne asada done over an open fire , hunted a few times and it was exciting to say the least .
Saw only young bucks in the early morning fog and was coming it for lunch and right at camp we jumped all the does that we were wondering where they all went .
Wife was in camp and said WOW did you see all the deer that just ran across the field ?
Afternoon sit went way better than the morning sit and produced sightings of at least 2 "shooters" , one was the ten point I like and another a buck I have never seen until this week !
So the ten came out following a really hot doe late in the day across the open field , not on my place ,but heading my way . They locked up and she laid down about 75 yards from me , thought I might coax him into our place and gave him a few grunts .
Silly me for sure , he looked my way for a second or 2 and then looked really hard almost underneath me to my left a bit .
Standing there all ready to rumble and tumble was big wide 8 staring him down all puffed up and ears back ! 8 jumpes the fence and makes a straight line to him , head high titled back and swaying his rack with his ears back .
Man was it cool to see them square off , the 8 closed the distance to about 10 yards and the ten said to him rather nicely , "say when" !
the 8 went a bit closer and the 10 took a step towards him and then ,,,,the 8 said ummmm , well maybe not . How about if I stand off to the side a bit as he circled to his left some and watch her with you !
the rut is on fire out there right now for sure , got some great fight videos on my cameras and the woods are totally alive with wildlife .
As you well know I don't have to kill something to have a good time and if I wanted it would have been a cake walk to fill all 4 of my tags , but alas , it isn't me to harvest them in numbers and probably won't settle for just any deer this year . the 10 is the deer I really want unless something larger shows up and as of now, no deer are near him in the boss buck range on our place .
stay tuned , probably out to hunt again soon , need to ketch a fish today ....
    NO KABOOM was the word
P.S. I did limit out on carne asada tacos , filled all my tags and poached me 1 or 2 more just because .....

Sounds like a great time. I saw two doe cross the street on my way to the lake Saturday, but I couldn't get my rod and reel out fast enough . A good time is almost or more important than getting the tag. Beautiful part of this country you have.

Thanks yawl , there are prettier places in Texas and to be sure have been on a few of them , but when it is your place it changes everything .
that coupled with our tireless approach to keeping it as natural and undeveloped and or cleared as possible does make me happy.
abundant wildlife is a sign of doing things right in a world of dozing it down to make apartments and cattle pastures and shopping malls for sure .
hopefully it remains this way in our family a long time , one never knows for sure , but maybe in the end it stays a wildlife haven and entertains more friends and family for many years .

it is really hard to describe that open fire pre marinated thin as paper meat when it is done ....
the seasoning is just perfect and even though it isnt cheap meat ....it seems worth every penny when it hits your taste buds

real estate prices here are way past stupid right now though and we could triple our money pretty easily if we sold it right now .....
not bad for an almost 4 year investment , but this investment is NOT about financial gain , and Saturday we will break ground on our new building beside our trailer ,in it for the long haul is me .
we looked at 29 acres not long ago , it was right at 900,000.00 US ! And in the middle of nowhere with no power or water ! It was for sale about a week !

Wonder how that $900,000 investment will shake out when prices drop back to normal?
