Default Loss of a big one

On my drive to work this morning in the dark with a little fog I came to a bunch of cars pulled off the road. There in the turn lane laid a monster of a buck being lit up by some flashlights. He had a rack wide enough that it was holding his head off the ground. Heavy beamed and tall as well. I counted 6 points on one side off the main beam. That doesn't account for brow tines or kickers. Probably the largest rack and bodied deer I have seen in this area. I would have loved to stopped and gotten a photo. With all the commotion and traffic with the fog. It was safer to drive by. Looked like he was taken out by a Ram 2500 . Pretty sad day for both truck and deer

Hate it for both too! I would rather see the deer on the hoof walking a trail than laying dead on the road.

Don't really see any mature bucks in that area by the road. It sure was this morning

chasing does can be a really dangerous thing for a buck deer, took out a big 8 one time with my dodge that was chasing does many years ago and now that it is mentioned , bought took out a Bigger 8 last week in a similar situation ,but it was broad daylight and I was zooming and day dreaming and then THERE he was , it was in the area of 18 inches close to a hit and that isn't no joke , barely missed planting him in my grill .

the big 8 years ago pushed my cattle guard into my head light and cracked it and actually passed away in my hands as my wife took a photo of him and myself in the ditch .
I said take a photo and she said he is still alive !
I said no mam and she said it just blinked it's eye at me .....
AND then sure enough ,there stands me in the dark with an antler in each hand wrestling with him and trying to figure out how to let go without getting hurt ! !
Fortune favored me and after a few rather hard twists and turns he passed away ,,,,scared the you know what out of me !

no doubt , had a friend who hit a monster 9 one time and tried to pick it up to take it home with him .
came alive while he had it in his hands as well , RIGHT when a state trooper rolled up on him ....
the story goes like this ,,,,,help me shoot him ...the trooper says can't shoot an animal ....
finally lets go and the buck is mad as you know what and comes after him ....
chased him around his truck and he grabs a sawed off as he passes his open driver door and lays him down !
the trooper has since got back in his car in the rain and is watching this unfold ....
it was in Illinois and he was headed to Michigan ,...
trooper got back out and they chatted over what just took place ...
bud says hey if you a hindquarter I will cut one off for ya .....
the trooper is still somewhat bewildered and then agrees to give him a road kill tag ..
    in exchange for the hindquarter
man did that fella have a monster rack on his head
but the story was the real trophy and yes I no longer hunt with that bud as it aint the first time nor will it be the last to get into that kind of situation ....
and some of yawl think I am crazy .....
that ole boy is a train wreck on steroids
