15th in MO and already seeing lots o pics of brown down.
I use an old AMF recurve I have had for about 50 years , sure is tough to hunt with ,it is similar to native american style hunting , no sights wood arrows and they need to be VERY close in .
I over draw it a good bit and shoot it at 66 lbs , it will not stay at full draw very long if you want to let an arrow fly in the direction it is pointed ....
am I any good at it you might ask , my answer would be sort of , had more deer jump the string than you can imagine , them arrows leave in slow motion compared to what it commonly used .
I mostly let it rest on the garage wall these days with my elk skin bow glove , have scared more deer with it ,than some have ever let an arrow fly at .
but as you might imagine i do have a really sweet bow blind set up and they walk by it REALLY close

Those old recurves are an art to shoot. What they get out of these small compounds now speed wise is truly amazing

Been scouting and building blinds the last week. Yesterday went into my squirrel woods for a hunt and scout. Found some large rubs and a large scrape. One rub was on a runway near my ground blind and in my favorite squirrel area. One more squirrel took the ride home with me! Made a mock scrape and am anxiously awaiting opening day this Friday.
Get after them with that recurve Ketchn. Nothing more satisfying than an old school harvest. I had to give up my tradbow hunting due to shoulder issues. Still miss those days but I still hunt up close and personal, from the ground from natural ground blinds. Good luck to all.
