they will work a garden over so fast it isnt EVEN funny ....
my grandpa paid me to eradicate them when I was a young fella
we had a 2.5 acre garden and them things like mentioned can be really smart
the biggest one was the smartest and I had to read and read different techniques to outsmart it
seems it was trap wise and was reaching under the jaw traps and setting them off by flipping them
so one digs a light impression in the ground and sets the trap upside down and ....
first set got his big old mean about hairless on the tail butt

You can plant one sweet corn plant in the middle of a thousand acres of field corn and they'll find it...Don't ever let your dog chase/swim after one out in to deeper water they will get on its back/head and drowned your dog.

Duke's dog proof coon traps @ approx. $14.99 ea never fail me. Then a .22 between the eyes next morning cleans them out quick.............for a short time until another batch migrate in.

Sense the invention of the Duke Dog Proof Coon Trap my catch rate has gone up 100%. If that trap was around 30-40 years ago the coon would have been on the endangered species list here in south central Louisiana. I now use them around my deer feeders and it helps keep the population in check.

I have a couple of hog feeders that every corn eating critter seems to use..Usually they all get along but I have seen my deer run the coons off the feeder by stomping them with front hooves. my buddy showed me a picture of a 8 point grinding a coon into the ground with his antlers... I know a coon could put a hurting on a deer but they never do when I'm watching..
