But sadly it seems those times have come to a close
I found a box of 22 ammo in my ammo locker the other day
When I saw the price it made me sad a bit
I even remember the day I bought them and thought WOW they have gone up out of sight !
seems those days are gone forever in this brave new world
    cheap ammo ....
man what a dream and we thought it would never end

    I remember those days!

In fact, when I was a kid we could go into the hardware store and the old gentleman that owned the store would break open a box of .22 shorts and sell us 10 or 20 shells at a time. So, if we found a few soda bottles and returned them for the deposit, we would have enough money to buy a few .22 shorts.

    Those were the days!!

I’m only in my mid 30’s but I can remember summer break from school, my dad would buy me bricks of .22lr Remington golden bullets for 7.56. That’s 500 rounds.

I use to buy them in the sixties by just going in the hardware store and charging them to my dad’s account. He’d would get on to me cause it was a six mile walk into town and I wasn’t but eight years old in 1965

they gave 25 cents to hit town with when i was 8 . 15 cents for a gallon of gas and 10 cents for a loaf of white bread .
when i got home i had to mow the grass before i went fishing with my white bread for carp in the duck pond .....
heck i pulled weeds ALL summer just to get one mitchell 300 to handle them big ole carp ,,,,

I remember those days as well. My wife and I were talking the other day about this very subject. I can remember going with my Dad on Saturdays to fill up the family car with gasoline for .25 a gallon. How about 10 cent candy bars? I used to walk to school and I would check every pay phone for change, bang parking meters as I walked by to see if the collector might not have gotten the meter closed correctly, I scrounged for glass pop bottles to return for 10 cents each. Growing up we didn’t have money to waste for anything unnecessary but how I wish the world today was like it was back then. I was one happy little fella!

we had a little store with penny candy and even several for a penny in some cases .
we loved that store , boxes and boxes of all kinds of candy .
we would go in with a dime and leave with a brown paper lunch bag about half full ....
almost 60 years later i still remember the name of that little store
    "Yosts" store
    good times i tell ya
