5 gallon empty bucket in the blind beside you .
because if you turn to look at the deer coming in from behind you and "bump" said bucket
and the metal handle that was down up falls and hits the side of the bucket .
it will flat freak out a herd of deer sneaking in late in the day
and the 7 in front of me in the woods did the same thing when it occurred as well
in the end its likely 13 was unlucky number that visit to the blind for sure .
and trusting my corn bucket was not my brightest moment either

Been there done that lol. Not with a 5 gallon bucket but was reaching for my binoculars on a shelf while watching deer.... thought I had them, I didn’t, dropped them in the floor with deer about 20 yards from the shooting house. You know what happened next.... Does blowing and off they went.

Funny not! Try a pair of binoculars laying on your chest while leaning back in your easy chair. Deer walks out and you forget you had them on your chest and lean forward to get you gun ready on the rail. Heck of a Ka bump, scares you as bad as the deer. LOL But hey it will get better at least you'll remember not to have the bucket in the stand. Like I will not leave the binoculars on me and put them on the rail.

About 20 years ago, I was in a big tall metal lean-to stand. Had not seen anything all morning. Got down to “take care of business #2” and just as soon as I got started with that......here two does came running by with a nice buck right on their tails. Ran right by me, and me squatting like a baseball catcher! So I finish my business and get back up in the stand and I hear something coming from the direction where they ran.......probably them coming back.......so I scoot around to face the correct direction and they see me and start snorting and all I see is flags running away.
So they didn’t see me with my britches down when they ran 20 feet from me, but they saw me shift my position 15 feet up the side of a pine tree! Yeah, explain that one.

i have scared more deer than i have harvested for sure . some worse than others no doubt about it .
i used to hang a metal washer and pcs. a carpet in the windows on my blinds to create noise and movement so they wouldn't run away from me bumbling around inside the blind .
i learned that trick the hard way .....
i had a tower blind i used back when that had a metal roof . when we set it up under a huge pecan in the summer it never crossed my mind what would be the outcome in the fall .
i stayed away ALL summer and when the opener came i climbed in it all sneaky .
just about first light the wind blew and let me tell you THIS , a big ole hard pecan right in the middle of a metal roof with no insulation right above your head will i promise you make you think you just been SHOT !
i about jumped right out of my britches i tell ya . it rained them on me all morning and it was unnerving to say the least .
i was so dang jumpy by the time it was over it wasnt funny .
the good news is the 8 point that walked right up never even looked in my direction during all the bang bang bang
and one larger bang and or KABOOM and i had my buck
