Default 12 gauge #6 shot high brass shells

Maybe I should have bought some this summer because I cannot find any 12 gauge #6 shot high brass shotgun shells. Never had a problem before picking up a box or two at Wal Mart or Atwood’s. Not this year, though. I even tried Little Rock Basspro and they had none. Lots of #s 4, 7.5, and 8, but no #6 to be found except for the low brass. I went by Atwood’s this afternoon and bought a $17 box of Fiocchi Golden Pheasant nickel plated #5 shot. It was the last box of those. I was down to my last half box of Herter’s high brass I bought last Christmas, so I had to have em.

Too high for me, but I figure I have one more weekend of squirrel hunting before modern gun season opens for deer. My dad really likes squirrel hunting and he prefers eating them to deer steak because it’s easier on his teeth. . Mine too.

Dad hunts with an old 16 gauge and he leaves empty Federal purple hulls all over the ground......not talking about peas either. . He won a $100 gift card at a Wild Game/Sportsmen’s Dinner a couple of years ago and traded it to a guy who had just won a case of 16 gauge high brass shells that he didn’t have a use for. Dad still has six or seven boxes of those.

Just wondering if anyone else was having trouble finding ammo.

Same thing at the Cabela's in Boise, Id last week. The rifle ammo was cleaned out also. The clerk said there was no problem getting it but there has been a line outside waiting for them to open on days their stock comes in and it doesn't last long. Political fears, Kamela Harris has made some serious threats.

Could not find any slugs for my daughters gun around here. We made sure to save 2 shells for her Illinois youth. When we got to Illinois we went to Rural King and they had a bunch of the particular shell we were looking for. We stocked up!

Ammo is getting almost impossible to find! I blame COVID for manufacturing slowdowns and a general worry about crap hitting the oscillator for the shortage. As for me, I lost every one of my guns, so no need for ammo. Again, I lost every one of my guns!

Same way in North Alabama. When it hits the shelves, someone is standing there to buy it.... Glad I was semi stocked up before this last crazy hit. I still try to go once a week and look somewhere, I occasionally find a box or 2.

Thank you all for chiming in. My friend told me to buy the $6 low brass and get closer.

Did you try Gun Broker.com for ammunition. I started buying in bulk over the last couple of years so I wouldn't have to worry about shortages
