Default Big porker on the ground

Went with a buddy to land I have permission to hunt. They had just cut the hay on a couple decent Sized fields ~20 acres Surrounded by woods and thickets so I went to check them out. Went and done some looking right before dark didn’t see anything so I set up and started calling. About 2 minutes after starting to call this big boy came out at 200 yards and was heading right to us. Let him get to 60 yards and called the shot for my buddy to take, I was going to back him up but he didn’t need any lol. When the 7mag popped he ate dirt. Went and checked a couple more fields but nothing so we can’t back and got this big boy. This is the 3rd time I’ve called in pigs after not seeing any in the fields. If you have a bunch of pigs it’s something to try, I would have never in a million years think calling pigs would work but I’m a believer now. I downloaded an app on my phone and carry a Bluetooth speaker with me. He was definitely over 250. I’m thinking closer to 300.

Ketchn, Check out hog zombies on YouTube. They have a bunch of videos of them calling hogs. I actually downloaded the app that they use when they are calling. It is pretty cool, after watching the videos I was thinking this will never work, seemed way to easy. By golly, it was easy. The first set I ever made, I bet the call didn't run but maybe 45 seconds and I had a hard charging 150 lb SOW in my lap at about 12 yards before I knew what happened. It didn't go too well for her. I think there was 10 or 12 hogs in that first group and they were nose to tail headed my way. I killed the lead Sow and another 75-80 lb pig. I was still thinking it was beginner luck though, tried it a few more times and have been successful 3 sets. As many pigs as you have I would think it would be relatively easy to call one out.

Yea it’s definitely cool. I pretty much watched all their YouTube videos. I watched one where he explained how he went through his call sequence. I was still thinking well that’s Texas on property that has tons of hogs on it... that will never work around here. Tried it the first time and shot 2, I was pumped and still thinking, well that was a fluke, it won’t happen again. I’m a believer now... let us know when you try it. I always look forward to reading your post about deer and pigs.

me and my bud are looking into it , 300 for the call is kinda high though
i wonder if hogs can get call shy as well or maybe already are in some cases ?
they are pretty smart critters most of the time
