Default New Deer Box for 2020

Too much fresh water and friends who wanted something to do means "let's build a new deer box." One friend donated all the lumber from the scrap pile where he works and another friend brought a big box of screws and a cordless drill so we got after it! Built this bad boy in about 3 hours, start to finish. All the cutting was done with a power saw, so no close inspections.........but I bet it'll do come next November. Another friend works at Sherwin Williams and he had a gallon of "mixed-wrong" paint that he said he was gonna have to throw away......so he shot some green in it for me and mixed it up and there ya go. Sorry boys, cannot supply the color code, not even for a million dollars.

We built this mainly for my dad who is 78 and isn't too steady climbing ladders anymore. We built him a shelf inside for his snacks & gear and its got a nice chair already placed inside too. Dad helped paint it and he said he might try it out this week for some squirrels. Looking forward to Fall already.

These pictures were taken just about 30 yards from where we built the box.

That is EXACTLY what my wife said when she saw the picture. Might have to get her out there to bend down there and paint that board.........if ya know what I mean.

It's built on a hill overlooking a creek bottom. We have a road/ATV trail that comes right by it so Dad could, if he wanted to, drive right up to it. I suspect that he'll drive his truck as far as the paved county road and park there, then walk in about 50 yards or so to his box. KABOOM should definitely be heard there this Fall.

I'm planning on doing some camo affects to it.........maybe some brown, gray, black, and orange marks on it with some leaf patterns. Probably run some camo burlap/netting around the window openings as well. Its gonna be a good one.

Looks great, I like to make the window opening smaller so it can be heated easy, getting older I kinda enjoy not being cold lol ,burlap will help cut down on them spotting movement , they can set motionless for long periods and that's how the old deer get older lol
