I do not feel right when I go hunting without one of mine now. No doubt I could have killed many more good bucks the past few years before all the tag-alongs. But my oldest taught me about 5 years ago that it is not all about the kill, it is more about the time spent together. She is about to turn 14 and I figure she is about to loose some interest with interest shifting to boys but I will always cherish the time we spent together in the tree.

my oldest lost interest in going with me about 13 or so . she stayed by my side fishing and hunting from about when she started to walk until that age .
she tracked a real big buck I winged one day with me when she was around just big enough to walk . we tracked a mile I bet with her on my shoulders most of the time and when I finally found him in a thicket I put her down and literally went in with my knife in my teeth after him on my hands and knees . thank goodness he was done is still what I think to this day .
I used to have a photo of her on my shoulders with him hanging beside us in a tree . and as I type his head is over my right shoulder on the living room wall .
she got back into hunting and fishing when she hit college and still hunts and runs trotlines with her husband these days .
imagine how happy some guy will be if your daughter decides to marry him my friend . a wife that understands and enjoys the outdoors is a true gem .

I always thought you were an old buck Ketchin.
But you just be a young lad. Ive got great grandkids old enough to hunt.
Good thing because I’m actually too old, but not ready to admit it.
