    Default Fat Boy

I took photos with my camera the other day of this young 8 point running some does on my neighbors place next to me .He roams all over my place daily . I sent one to my wife and she immediately said he is FAT and will be perfect to eat !
I was like but he is young and not really much rack wise and she said I don't care ,he looks really fat and will likely be tasty
He is on the game cameras all the time and I told her I really want one of the 2 larger bucks I have seen a few times and she was still in the why not just bring that Fat Boy home with you .
Mind you his rack is really wide and way past his ears making him a "legal" buck here in Texas , and most would say cull him as he isn't sporting a great rack for a 3 year old anyway .
So in the end if I show you him in a not alive situation in the near future you will understand I am just trying to keep it friendly at the house .
She even agreed to help me grind him up and process him so I think its best I bring him to my house instead of one of the more mature animals .
Sometimes it is what it is

I learned years ago I can't eat horns. That one would look nice on the old meat pole. But if you're wanting horns let him walk he will be a very nice buck next year if someone else don't drop him.
Be safe and good luck fishing

I really want to harvest one of the 2 other older larger horned animals out there , but that said I aint seen either one on camera or on the hoof since season started . The one bad thing about a small property is that they often wander to other properties and that often gets them harvested elsewhere .
I am in hopes the acorns that are RAINING down all over the place is just keeping them in the woods ,but every time hot does come out running it aint either of the 2 big ones running them.
I guess in the end it isn't really about antlers anyway and I have taken a large number of does and young bucks in my life and they taste pretty much the same no matter the size once they hit the dinner plate
I still got a little over a month to make up my mind about it though and sure am undecided . I have so often taken a so so buck only to have a much larger buck show up afterwards .

I am in the don't think many get to grow up in that neighborhood thought process . I could be wrong but I had a good number of nice bucks last year and this year not near the same number .
And the one larger buck who lots of folks said to let grow is back and he aint one inch bigger if that this year
it likely never going to be a trophy rack spot and in the end I will likely take one if I have the chance for meat in the freezer .
the good news is I am lucky in I got my own spot and a few deer to play with .
I am still waiting to see if when the acorns quit if they do at all if larger racks start to show up .
I have only seen 4 bucks I think are legal to harvest this year and only 2 of those show up kinda regular .
