If it has swollen the barrel I would not shoot it any longer. To much risk of damage to the bolt and locking mechanism. Wouldn't want to have it on my shoulder it it decided to let go
I have one purchased from a pawn Shop -- been a pretty good gun, and after I bought it I heard it was prone to jams and ejection problems .... This Simi auto has Ram bolt type ejection and Lubrication is a must to operate correctly... Mine has enough wear on its action parts looks like it saw Action in WW II
A Friend has a newer 7400 Rem that he let someone borrow -- he left it with me to look at.. It would Jam 9 out of 10 times ,, not Eject shells when it would shoot ----- worse the Scope does not seem to Pattern shots , no grouping . Then he noticed the Barrel swollen under the Front sight --- and he was correct... It looks like this Gun was dropped from a Tree Stand and the Barrel was full of dirt and Fired .... the Bore at the end of the Barrel is 2 Thousands over sized .... I found a Burr on the Cam Follower from the Clip gouging the Ram Bolt action and think have solved the Issue with Jamming .... will this Gun have to have a New Barrel --- and how much does it Cost to replace the Barrel and Labor .... Thanks

its my opinion that if a rifle has seen that much use and or abuse it might be best off for all involved to retire it and find one in a little better condition maybe ?
but that said if you are in love with it I suppose you could replace the worn items , but again you will still have a wore out weapon with a few new parts on it .

Any gun bought in a Pawn shop should be checked out first by a “compident” gunsmith, and not a “handy man” who thinks he is. Could be somebody already did play around with it and even try removing the barrel, which could cause excessive headspace.
Probably would be cheaper to look for a replacement gun than trying to replace the barrel and still have a problem gun.

When I let him know what I found he will Retire that Rifle... Expanded Barrel of 2 thousands Managed Recoil would be the only thing for Ammo but for safety it is a parts only gun and paint the barrel red.

Those guns work great for a few years and they goto pot. Not worth fixing in my opinion. They sell for around $300 - $ 350 around here. A new barrel would cost that or more. I have 1 of these guns and a couple of the 742s I don't hunt with them and they belong family members that have passed, that's the only reason they are still around. If you want a auto rifle get a BAR or R1. I hunt with a benelli R1 myself and it's never jammed but they are a little pricey.
