    Default 30-O6 QUESTION .

Got dads old Remington 30-06 out to use as a back up (divided most of what the boys wanted) this deer season . I believe it has a 1-10 twist, 22 inch barrel . Which is more likely to group better ? I bought a box of 150, 165,180 . All pointed soft point core- lokt. Figure some on here have had experience with this selection .I know there are better choices and reloaders can beat them to death " BUT"of these three one will produce a winner . Actually have already shot the 150 's a few years back . They were about 1.5-1.75 as far a group @100 .

Although they are great hunting bullets, core locks are usually not extremely accurate. 1.5 inch at a 100 is minute of deer out to 300 yards.

There's really not any way for us to tell you which one will group best. The 165 will shoot every bit as flat as the 150 though. I do know that from my own ought6.

The men have you on track, I’d say 150-165.
Them sippi deer ain’t very big, I wonder if the 180 jacket will perform on them.
Shoot em and let the rifle tell ya

Have been hunting where 100 yd. , or less was good enough . Want to stretch that out a little but not wanting to buy Nosler loads for a back up gun . Always figured the 06 was better with a 165 or 180 . Will find out when it cools off . Figured some of the military guys on here would be 30-06 users .
