My 86 year old neighbor had it last year and he does not have to have glasses to read an longer. I wouldn't think iron sights would be a problem. Makes me want to get the lens put without the cataract surgery.
What changes did you make to shoot a pistol with irons

Distance is 20-20...near sight will always have readers..With readers..sights are crystal clear, but target washes completely out..I shot yesterday..with a laser, or reflex sight..perfect...irons not so much..
I think most of us with older eyes would benefit from laser or reflex sight.
That is the issue a lot of us face. Close up is crystal clear without glasses but cannot see far away. When wearing glasses, closeup is hazy but far away is good. People who use bifocals have an even bigger issue. I shoot with both eyes open so I tend to not have that issue near as much as others do. Might be worth a try if you don't already do so.
Another thing that might benefit. Even if the irons are hazy, you might be able to paint an off color (say white) on your front sight post and then put a different color surrounding your rear sight appature. This way your brain indicates that the white lines goes inbetween the other colors. Easier to allign without actually having to have a clear picture of the sights.
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
I have been switching away from iron sights to optics and have tried a red dot and think it might help with pistols, I have it mounted to a 10/22 and it is helping since I cannot see front or rear well on it now and painting the iron didn't help. But, I hate relying on batteries.

Me too. But the sights have improved..now thousands of hours of battery life..They still will go down when needed the most..I've just never used one for defensive work

My wife and I were discussing it last weekend, she is wanting to put a rechargeable laser on her pistol so it stays charged, I worry about the cord getting snagged if she has to use it quickly.
But, if they ever came wireless rechargeable, hmm.......

I use Veridian laser, lights..less than 30 minutes to charge, and last a long time..no need to keep plugged in..extra battery packs are availible
