    Default BUCK DOWN !

Those of you that follow my posts know that we "had" a nice 9 point with a injury of some sort that has been limping real bad about 4 weeks now . So I made a plan with my bud who works with me on my place to take him out if he sees him on my place .
The buck was always pretty good about staying over the fence when we are actually there but is seen frequently on the game cameras .
Anyway I told him to be ready for him as the last week of camera photos show him at both feeders twice a day most of the time and also show him coming in from my place and not from across the fence like we used to see. The buck was struggling to get calories to survive the cold and the injury I am sure and I am also just as sure it was a pretty much for sure coyotes will find him soon thing and do him in .
Sure enough first sit at 5 pm Friday out he came on 3 legs like we have seen him and my bud made a good shot and downed him .
Turns out it was some sort of serious hoof injury/infection and looked to be not good . I thought I noticed in some photos the last week or so it was swollen up and didn't notice that before when I saw him holding his leg up .
So we hunted a couple of hunts and I saw things I have never seen in person on the other spot I hunt . I watched an 8 point actually chase a doe down in daylight and do the deed right in front of me in the open field about 5 pm the day he got the buck on my place . I didn't get photos as I thought a bigger buck would most certainly intervene and my chance was at hand . but alas only 2 other 8 points showed up and none of the 3 met my criteria for a harvest .
I have included a couple of photos of a large hog (note marked photos and the doe looking at hog ) that passed by with several friends at about 150 yards out ,but never came in well enough for a shot .
My bud has never taken a deer with a rack and I think I aint quite sure who was happier about the harvest me or him …..I bet he said thank you a hundred times
Such was the end of season for a big buck here in My part of the world , sure was a nice set of hunts and quite memorable .
hope you enjoy the photos and have a great day
    AND btw GO COWBOYS !

Glad you got the buck out of his misery! Your friend has a good reason to be happy that's a nice deer in any hunting camp. Hope next season will be just as good or better than this years. I enjoyed it reading and following your post, sure am glad I could tag along!

Way to go, very nice of you to let him take that buck. Most people wouldn't be so kind.
