Scent can make or break a hunt for sure .
I don't try to mask mine very often and typically only hunt the wind directions favorable to the sit .

Nice buck. I like that rack.

Nothing you can do will cover up your odor. You can minimize it but you can't eliminate it. I try to minimize my odor but do not go to extreme measures to eliminate it either.

The thing about eating in the stand is interesting for sure to many. If you leave the stand to eat you can't get them, but if you eat in the stand you may let the deer smell your sandwich or what ever you eat. If the wind is right I vote for stand time with a lunch. If not I probably should of picked a different stand.

Many a deer were shot by the hunter late back to lunch or with a lunch to eat on stand...others moving around coming and going to lunch can bump a deer to you once in a while as well.

Some of the biggest deer ever killed were by old timers with a 30-30 while smoking a cigarette. This quote sums up my Dad. He shot numerous deer with an old 30/30 Winchester while smoking a cigarette. Several times he said to me "Hold my cigarette! .....KABOOM! Hand that back. He's down right over there."

I loved my dad dearly when he was alive and still do. I miss him every hunting season.

He died from lung cancer from smoking cigarettes for over 60 years. Don't smoke and quit if you do!

I just stopped for the evening. I am not done but I did get 90 lbs ground today (small grinder) still have about 40 lbs to go. Going to make breakfast sausage (maple and sage) also plan on making several flavors of Link sausage which will include but not limited to Polish, Brats, Garlic and maybe even some hotdogs. I think I will make some Italian also. There is a definite remote possibility that I brought to many animals home in to short a time span.

I think you are correct. However you will be set for the year.
