Default Really sad news ....I mean REALLY

I go out the the lease I have been on for ten years and run my typical program . As I drive in and do it sneaky with just my parking lights on I come around a tight bend in the road by the large agricultural pond that holds crappie in excess of 3 lbs for sure and some I think top 4 ......
And I almost Kaboom a metal bright orange steel stake in the middle of the road ! I am like what the heck and it wasn’t here last visit for sure on Sunday , on my way I go and sit in a herd of cows and only see three pretty nervous deer .
I can see another marker with streamers on it after sunrise about where I missed the coyote a few weeks ago . Curiosity gets the best of me and I text the manager who is the cousin of the owner and ask him what’s up with the markers everywhere.
Now mind I know it’s not gunna be good news and I have seen plenty of surveymarkers before and sure enough he says , they sold the half of the place that has the best crappie holes I have ever dropped a jig in bar none !
And it gets worse ,the side I run the camera on stays with the house they live in and it’s no longer for lease as a grandson from Austin wants to bow hunt it next year and he is gunna run some kinds eco tourism kinda thing in the valley with all the caves in the side of the rock cliffs that surround it .
I do get to finish the season there though and as it so often happens I suppose all good things come to an end ....even the REALLY really good things .
I did take a large doe that evening and I am sure glad I get to finish the season and thank you god so much for the little place we bought . A bit sad for sure and will post photos of this last episode when I come out of the cloud of sadness

I am in the same boat . I found out that the owner of my lease has pored a slab to build a house(oldest son )dead center of the lease . He assured me that it would not change anything . I do not like hearing kids playing, traffic ect, while hunting . As I get older and having lost my oldest brother and dad my desire to hunt has somewhat faded. Lost my best hunting friend a few weeks back and have started hunting only in the afternoon . I kinda see where this is heading .

That’s too bad. Hoping something even better comes along.

One of my favorite hunting spots is owned by an elderly couple, both in their 80s, and they let me hunt for free provided I bring them a few squirrels and some fresh deer meat every year. I have already given them part of my son's deer that he got last Saturday and the squirrels started coming to them in October.

Anyway, they told me that they are going to sell out because they just can't keep their farm up anymore. I don't have the money to buy it all and I asked them would they sell me the hunting land part of their farm and they declined and said that it would all go as one tract of land. This may be my last hunting season on this particular plot of land. I am enjoying every minute that I can spend there this Fall.
