    Default Season Opener

Well I will say this I had some fun . I didn't take any game animals and missed my only one shot I let fly on what I think is the large coyote I keep seeing on camera . I do now I am still in disbelief I let one fly at him before first light at 150 on opening day ,but to be sure I want him gone and tried to make it so . to make it worse my bud missed a coyote on the other side of the river as well ?
Anyway on with the rest of the hunt story .
A small 8 showed up after first light scent checking and looking for does and down the fence line he went . Then a bit later a really nice large 8 showed up . Now mind ya when he first popped out I bought let him have it . But at this location we have don't just whack a nice buck ,we have a wait for the big boy rule . So as I looked him over (thru my scope) a bit and put my rifle back down .….
he wandered up so close it was sure enough tuff to watch ,but as he fed on acorns at 20 yards in front of me I knew he wasn't the buck I wanted . he was sure enough a beautiful animal though and will likely not survive season if he doesn't get smarter around this parts.
I have new hunters across the fence from me that seem to be a bit on the clueless side but have yet to meet them .
So I sat around and took photos of things and got a nice bearded hen on camera along with a bunch of deer and turkey and this one western blue bird that held still in late afternoon reddish sunset .will try to load up some more photos when I have time
hope you enjoy the photos ...have to run
    have a great day

That is a nice looking buck, and up close and personal. Hate that you missed the coyote, maybe he will leave your area, for good.

there used to be one similar to her on the other side of the river from this spot back when . its beard was much larger but to be sure she has a nice beard . most beards I see on hen birds are really thin and don't have much girth .
she is a loner and that's what makes it interesting to me ,so was the one from many moons ago .
I wonder why that's the case , I know they cant be the same bird as its way to many years ago.
and to be sure she is as large as a mature gobbler as was the one years ago .

wish I got a few more of the bluebird but they are kinda flighty critters and don't sit still long
looked good in the setting sun for sure

I see one real nice one pretty much every year at that stand opening day under that oak tree .
the good news for me is that I picked the spot years ago not knowing they liked that tree .
the bad news is they never seem to visit it much after the season opener .
he made a bee line for it and never even looked at the corn by the feeder .

I doubt the coyote is gone ,he came back after about 3 or 4 minutes and grabbed what I think was a rabbit he downed early way out in the field . what gave me even the slightest chance at a shot in those conditions was he held still for a bit as he ate on it after he chased it out in the field and got it .
and trust me he was really fast at coming back and grabbing it and leaving just as fast with it ….
at least my shot didn't worry the deer none ….that's the only good news

Great pics, thanks for sharing !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
