the comparison of wild hog and a domestic hog is not even close ; Although the wild boar is related to the domestic pig, they do not taste the same. Wild boar tastes like a cross between pork and beef, with a unique juicy succulence. The meat is a bit darker, perhaps due to the healthy iron content. and the wild hog cooks good in a smoker or in the oven !!!

sometimes I swear its exactly like regular pork other times a bit more flavorful . young ones seem to be about the same as to me
I can say it makes some ridiculous good food in most cases ...the breakfast sausage they make is really ridiculous yummy
slightly leaner and really tasty .on the smoker there isn't a meat I have found that will out do it for sure .

Well I have to say,I'm a bit envious of those who live where wild hogs roam.I feel I would have a well stocked freezer, and a well used smoker yum.

you wish you had them and then you wish you didn't …..
careful what you wish for ….they multiply like you cant imagine in a short period of time ….

Yeah if they breed like domestic, they deliver a dozen or more to a litter. We have wild boar in southern Wv,but they have never taken hold in population like they seem to in other states. Our hogs are Eurasian/Prussian boar, brought here in 1971,but the ever changing property ownership has limited hunting locations .

I hunted around them for many years and some places there not that bad and some places they are a nightmare. It's best not to have them but ask anyone how has them if you could make them go away and most say no. There fun to hunt and great food. It gets quite exciting when a big sounder comes in while you dear hunting. It sounds like a dove shoot for a few minutes.
