Ok, so I am back in the old climbing stand this afternoon with a favorable NNW wind hitting me in the face. I see the replies are unanimous and after I though more about it I should have taken the shot. I have hunted this field for about 20 years and have only seen two other coyotes. Both sitings were late in the season, December, so never this early. Maybe these vermin are why the deer are not visiting the pear trees like they normally do. Seat time in the stand will tell. Thanks for the responses.

Choot 'em! Just choot'em! In my best gator huntin voice LOL
I definitely would have taken the shot. I've tried on about 3 different occasions to kill one with a bow. But no dice. Either busted on the draw or they duck the arrow. They have better reflexes than a deer in my opinion.
    Good luck!

No luck again tonight, saw one lone deer, but did here the coyotes howling and yipping as I climbed down the tree. I think I may have a family of those things living on the property this year.

Last couple of nites, pack of 10-15 coyotes been opening up at around 9 pm after the moon is up, howling near house, They will eventually move but for now, no deer on my trail cams or anywhere as they will run them and move them around. The deer will move right back in and the coyotes will move to another area to hunt. That happens here in my part of southern Indiana all the time. Deer don’t move far and come right back. You maybe are experiencing the same thing there is my guess. Stay with it.

A coyote cost me a shot at the biggest buck I ever saw while hunting and I'll never forgive them.

Fill in the blank: The only good coyote is a _____ coyote.

    Good luck hunting this Fall.
