    Default It Is Time

The acorns and persimmons are falling, the days are shortening, and the leaves are beginning their color transition, it is time. Fall is indicated on the calendar but the temps here in the South are a little stubborn to reflect the October date. That’s ok, the animals in the forest know what is coming, and the deer in my area have started sorting out their place and pecking order. I did a little scouting yesterday and found about 14 little hardwood saplings and cedar trees scratched and mangled by the old boys trying to figure out who has the biggest.....rack.

The last picture kinda shows where one was actually pawing at the ground, trying to impress his buddies I am sure. It is bow season here now, my portable stand has been inspected and cleared for duty, and as soon as a favorable wind blows my way, I plan to pursue these four legged forest dwellers. Be safe out there, we have already had an elderly gentleman suffer a fatal tree stand fall.

I did some scouting last weekend and found some fresh rubs. I have spent my life in the woods / mountains, but am going to do some deer hunting this year....for the first time.

Be careful as the snakes are still out also. Like you mentioned wear your safety harness as tree stand accidents are never good.
Be safe and good luck fishing

Yikes on the Copperheads, we have an abundance of them here in TN also. While shooting my bow this week in the back yard the sweat was dripping from my nose, just too dang hot. Good luck on the bushy tails, they are sure fun to hunt.
