Wife bought the Creedmoor to hunt deer, will take to range this week. Will try Winchester Deer Season 125gr. Any other round she should try? This rifle is new to both of us just going by ammo salesman recommended.

Take a look at Hornady American Gunner rounds. They are not match grade but are capable of producing sub MOA groups out past 1000 yards
They are bowtail hollow point bullets in 140 grain
Shot out of a 24in barrel, they produce 2690 FPS with a very good ballistic coefficiant of .580/G1

The below information is based on a mil dot scope providing 1/10mil per click

    Zero at 100 yards
At 250 yards you need to adjust .8mils (8 clicks)
at 500 yards you need 2.9 mils (29 clicks)
At 750 yards you need 5.6 mils (56 clicks)
at 1000 yards you need 9.1 mils (91 clicks)

If you want to convert that, 1 mil equals roughly 3.6 inches at 100 yards.
So, take your drop rate and multiply by 3.6 to get your drop rate in inches at the above distances.
Based on the above, the round would be 2.88 inches low at 250 yards

Hope that helps. They are much flater shooting than a .308 with similar ammo and barrel

Good deal. Just wanted to give you some usable data to go by. Those rounds are around 95 cents each when purchased in boxes of 50

I shoot a 6.5 Grendel. I use Hornady ammo with 123 great A max bullets. I am very impressed with the outcomes. My 11 yo Grandson shot a small buck at 230 yards, the buck went down where he stood. The lungs or what was left of them were laying by his mouth, and there was little evidence of his heart when we gutted it. Very impressive round.
