ours started Aug 15th and 1st year in probably 45 yrs Ive missed the 1st day, haven't even been in the woods yet.
I hunt them with a .22 air rifle or .32 /.36 cal muzzleloader.. used a .22 for about 30 yrs but kill just as many with airgun or muzzleloader.
I actually like squirrel hunting better then deer hunting but cant hardly take looking up in the trees with messed up neck/back. it also takes a bunch of squirrels to equal one small deer

This summer has been brutally humid in the KY squirrel woods. A bumper acorn crop has them high up in the oaks trees.

was my favorite grandchild as I was only hunter out of her 20 plus grandkids. My grandma loved squirrels and I started out single shot .22 when a lad. She lover her some squirrels but made me go fight the cats under her house when I kept the heads with rest of skin when cleaning.

I have a ruger as well with leupold scope but can't bring myself to ever use it. my lil stevens. .22/.410 is just so deadly and effecient. I often get my 10 squirrel limit when they are moving and my BF gets one or two with .22 only. I love eating squirrel too so I gets after them often and great way to scout for deer/turkey too.
