Couldn't leave those plastic 100 bux a pc or less feeders out there . Just don't do the place justice . So I built my second one and installed it last weekend . Pulled the cards on the cameras and was pleased to see the same bucks hitting a goat and sheep block I put out in the absence of a decent feeder at location number 2 .
Found several of the dozen or so pecan trees with a load on them as well and of course we smiled over that to. Planted a chaste tree ...otherwise known as a butterfly bush and hung up a woodpecker feeder in one pecan tree .
and yes the grasshoppers are eating the pecan tree leaves right off the trees , note chew marks all over the leaves .
grasshoppers seem bad every time there is a drought scenario .the good news is the lil and mom ketched em and put them in a special cage as the lil decided she wanted them for pets. I told her ok but in a few days they are chicken food
observation at ground level revealed lots of droppings and a big ole spiny lizard along with some cactus fruit and a few flowering something or other plants .
hope you enjoy the photos and no they are not in any particular order ...lol
and yes we are breaking our lil ole piggy bank

Blessed to have as many friends as fingers on your hand is a blessing!!!

Nice, in my region, those are certainly shooter bucks.I hope you don't have any Texas bears, those feeders would be easy pikins.
No bears in that area , but to be sure hogs get big and crazy cows and they are heck on feeders .
Those are pretty tough set ups though as I have been doing this a while and had lots of things tore up over the years .
I typically run them higher than that but as I age I don’t like up so high on the ladder to fill them ...lol

As far as shooters , 2 are pretty ok , looks like one of them with the high rack is still young though .
I might let my electrician have the wide boy in trade for a bunch of electric work .
I am kind of sad I don’t have more doe deer as silly as that sounds .
Most of my friends and family just want to eat them , but I enjoy holding a nice rack as well .
Maybe after we get a solid water spot for them and dial it up more we will see a bit of improvement on the ratio .
Need to figure out why we don’t have more fawns , I suspect a predator of some kind is lurking
To be sure I will try to remove that competition if I can .

You are going to have some nice deer in a couple of years if you let them grow and your neighbors do as well.
I fear the neighbors my friend . I hear the one next door just wants meat and that typically gets ok bucks whacked . I would tend to think if they didn't have lots of pressure there would be at least one or 2 in that large of a group of bucks a lot older than what I am seeing so far .
That said its also a drought year and some might have looked much better with good eats . I don't think there is a buck older than 4.5 in there but its difficult to age them well sometimes . Teeth in a sandy location like that will lie to you and the wrinkles at the ear bases are saying most are pretty young animals at 2 to 3 years old .
To be sure they will be managed the best I can and not hit to terribly hard with harvests on our place .And in the end who knows ,there may be one we haven't seen or one close by that's a real show stopper , it could happen you know .
