    Default My 2017 gobbler's fan looks like a jake's

Not sure you can tell in the pic, but my gobbler's fan had the shorter tail feathers that are indicative of a jake. However, his beard was 10.5 inches long, spurs were exactly one inch. Why is this? Hard to tell whether this was an old bird, or just a young one with good beard and spurs.

I bet he was doing some early sparring and the new feathers had not quite gotten there yet. Beard and spurs are good.
