Smith and Wesson model 22a
It was jamming often. Took apart to clean. The recoil spacer was all banged up. Ordered new one, actually 3 of them.
The new one has a beveled edge on the bottom. Does that face front or rear?
Firing pin was also broken. Do I need to check anything else while it's apart?

Another issue. The piece with the spring on it, to the right of the weapon with the pick pointing to it, what is it called? This doesn't match with drawings that I'm finding online. Trying to figure out how its supposed to fit back together. Anyone have any experience with this?

Here's where it was.
Got new firing pin and recoil spacer installed, upon re-assembly, this happens. How? not sure. I have no doubt i did something.
The issue now: slide will go on, will not slide all the way forward. The piece in question was protruding from the bottom of the magazine well, keeping magazine from seating.

Update- I got it back together. The piece in question is the magazine safety (proper name?), So the weapon will not fire without the magazine in. It had a slight bend to it, was moving. I bent it back, weapon appeared better.
I'm now getting this issue-
Have three magazines, all three same results.
Try some different magazines? Something else?
