Default opening day Indiana squirrel season(air rifle)

Up at 5:30 in the woods by 6:45 and back home at 9:15..probably seen 40 squirrels in that short period of time..pig hickory and shag barks were full of them..farthest shot was 27 yds but was across a ravine and at about a 50 deg. angle, Beeman R9 .22 ..at usual it was muggy as all get out for opening morning..

What!, squirrel season came in already? Our season is still a few weeks away, but those pesky warbles hang around until it gets colder.Nice mess of squirrels though, hunting with an air gun is a lot of fun.

We don't have too much of a problem with warbles for the most part, in 45 yrs. of hunting them I think Ive killed maybe 10 squirrels total that have had them.. nothing better then squirrel gravy except maybe rabbit gravy

Nice mess and great eating. I like hunting them with black powder shotty. One shot is all I normally get with a tree full of squirrels then watch them run.

I had a .40 with Green Mountain barrel that I squirrel hunted with year before last, scary accurate killed 13 in a row with head shots...sold it as it weighed over 12# wore you out carrying it around.. have a little .32 I've killed a few with, just prefer the air rifles.
