Find a local cabinet maker, ask them to assist in construction or to donate. Small local businesses will utilize and appreciate the tax write off more than the local HD or other global companies.

Fwiw, a pellet trap does not have to be complicated. Any standard box made out of 1/2" osb and using hanging heavy carpet scraps (three or four straps hanging 2" apart) is more than adequate to stop .25 call pellets even. I imaging your group is using Avanti 853 guns which are relatively low power anyways, so no need to have sheet metal lining.

Not sure of what guns they use, I'll have to ask.
When talking to the commander at the other school he let me know that they let teachers practice with 22s in the range room. I could feel the small dents and some pellets stuck in the metal. The metal is used for easier and faster recovery of the spent lead.
I agree that a few layers of carpet could be used. They use plywood and cardboard now. They want more time shooting instead of rebuilding target frames.

The booster club is trying to apply for tax exempt. They need a person or company to back them with $1500.
Cane, Shoot me a PM sometime first of next week with some details of the project. I tried to PM you, but I'm on my mobile and don't see the option, I'm not good with technology. I own a small business here in Desoto county and we do some charitable contributions here and there. This is something we may be interested in. Is this desoto booster club? We did some work out at desoto central couple years back.. I see your local over in Southaven.

No word on the grant yet.
I got to go to school before it's out for summer to clean the range room. A few cadets were removing the target boxes from the backer panel, dumping them and storing them away. Others were sweeping the floor. I came in and grabbed a broom so I wouldn't be there to long. Most of the frames had been rebuilt with a sheet of metal on the back. Not as much wood and cardboard pieces this time.
I built a fire in my pit. Sat the #10 cast iron dutch oven on the grate and filled it up. After it melted down some I added the rest of the pellets. Got it fluxed with sawdust and cast 24 1 lb ingots. Need to find some 1X6s to make crates for storage.

A note from my daughter-in-law. The NRA turned the MCJROTC unit at Lake Cormorrant High School down on a grant for their pellet traps.
We need a good fund raiser to draw lots of money before school starts.

It's slow getting started without funds.
I picked up 110- 3/4 X 28 1/2 X 28 1/2" pieces of plywood today. Now get started measuring, cutting, piecing and filling holes.

Buddy what are you using to build these? We have used old belting material from Conveyor's . Can get some extra I think if it will help. Most is 24" to 36" wide and thick.

Pete, don't know how long the belt would hold up as being bullet proof. We'll try a 36X62" piece before getting more. Tell me where to meet you.
One dad donated 3/16" army grade diamond plate aluminum for the backers in the traps. One trap has been in service since 09/13 and the cadets have put holes in it. Only the 90% and up shooters are using this trap for testing.
We may have to buy 11 gauge steel for the backer. All of the traps I've seen uses it.
