    I haven't heard the word stumpknockers in a long time. Thats how we always referred to them

    uh, what's a stumpknocker? pic would really help. But looks like you had a very good day and love those red eared ones too. has some shoulders on it for sure.

    Stumpknockers are spotted-sunfish and are great eating, although a 7 "r would be a good 'un. As feisty as a smallmouth, too bad they don't get bigger! Biggest, out of many hundreds caught, has been around 8" but they have a nice filet for their size. Take spinners, jigs, live bait and my favorite fly rod poppers! Florida(Suwannee River) 37 year old record is .83 # around 14 oz.(guessing around 10"). May have to do a roadtrip!
