    Hello All,

March 26, 2016 was a cold breezy beautiful day for the first HOI Crappie Club tournament of the season. Clinton Lake was a gracious host. Crappie were elusive to some and abundant for others. 17 teams showed up to compete and challenge their Crappie fishing skills. Dan and I caught a number of Crappie, mostly under 9”, several over, and a couple of black nosed Crappie. Based on an informal survey at the ramp, that seemed to be normal for the day. Fishing in the wind was brutal, boat control was tough, but a key to winning. The winning teams stated they caught most of their fish on main lake structure. We had a new round of winners this year. They beat out some tough competition. Turns out we had the top two Crappie USA Amateur champs at the tournament as well. Both showed up as singles, but gave the winners are run for their money. About half the teams brought a full 7 fish basket to the scales, the rest of us were a little short of that goal. Everybody caught fish. All in all, it was a great day and felt great to be back on the water again.

1st place- Jason Wrange and Kenton Stoll- 4 lbs. 14.4 ounces.
2nd place- Terry Davis and Matt Mullins- 4 lbs. 10.7 ounces.
3rd place- Jacob Huber and Rich Huber- 4 lbs. 8.0 ounces.
4th place- Keith Cahill- 4 lbs. 4.6 ounces.

Big fish went Jason Wrange and Kenton Stoll- 1 lb. 5.6 ounces.

Great job all, we got some new talent this year. It’s going to be a great year…

    See you at the ramp,

We had a great time and everyone in the club was super helpful and friendly. Hope to fish with you all again some time. Be sure to ask catchincrisco if the boat looks familiar!

Default Banner Marsh April 23rd Tournament Results.

    Hello All,

I believe we set a new HOI Crappie Club weight record. Banner Marsh proved to have some large Crappie. The weather was perfect, the action was slow for some and busy for others. Some of use filtered through a bunch of little Crappie to get keepers. Others kept upgrading after every catch. Turns out the Main Ramp was the hot ticket and provided the largest basket at the scales. The winning team didn’t use minnows, they stuck with jigs and it paid off big time for them.

Unfortunately my camera malfunctioned, however I did manage to get one good shot of all the winners and zoomed in to concentrate on the winners with the winning stringer. Banner has a 9” minimum, I don’t think the winning team had a 9” fish in the lot. In fact the winning team averaged 12” – 1 pound Crappies. 7 fish limit weighed 6 lbs. 15.2ounces. Nice bag and a new record for HOI Crappie Club tournaments.

1st Place Team- Seth Eimer and Scott Johnson – 6 lbs. 15.2 ounces.
2nd Place Team- Dan Whitecotton and Brent Whitecotton – 3 lbs. 10 ounces
3rd Place Team- Mike and Pat Brockhouse – 2 lbs. 9.2 ounces

Big Fish- Seth Eimer and Scott Johnson – 1 lbs. 8.7 ounces.

Congratulations to all the winners. Good job!

HOI Crappie Club meeting May 5th at Presley’s Outdoors in Bartonville at 6:30pm.

HOI Crappie Club’s next tournament is May 7th at Evergreen Lake, Main Ramp. Registration begins at 6:30, tournament starts at 7am. Registration forms available at the ramp. Ought to be a great tournament, the spawn has started.

    See you at the ramp,

    Hello All,

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the Sept 17th tournament on the Illinois River. The ramp is flooded and its too late to change venues. Normally this time of the year flooding is not a concern, normally. We will see you at the two day final in October. This is an open tournament with a fish fry to follow on Sunday. Bring a covered dish to share, place settings and your favorite beverage to drink.
    See you at Evergreen.
