Good video. Thanks for sharing
Jim and I got out this morning and fished Lake Jackson from 9:30 to 2:30. This was our first trolling trip in quite a while. We ended the day with 18 fish that were 10 inches or better. We caught fish from the time we started until we finished. It was very foggy and it took us a while to get to the spot. There was also a lot of trash in the water which makes the trolling challenging at times. We fished curly tails and Charlie Brewer baits. The darker colors were the best fish catchers. The fish are scattered and the best water depth to find fish seemed to be in the 20 foot range. Most of the fish were suspended from 8-15 feet which is perfect for trolling. The video shows the setup we were using and it is only 4 minutes in length. Now is the time if the weather cooperates. Thanks for watching.

Good to see you posting again. When you guys going back to Oconee?

That is a good question. I hate to be negative as I love Lake Oconee but for Jim and I the long line trolling has been off for the past few years. I hope it is just a phase that lakes go through and that it will improve but I'm skeptical. I am 10 minutes from the Georgia Power ramp at the Dam on Lake Jackson. Over the years Jim and I have caught some good fish on Jackson but we never trolled it much due to the fact that we would catch so many small fish. I can drive 10 minutes and catch a lot of small fish or I can drive 45 minutes and catch a lot of small fish. It is a no brainer given the price of gasoline. As a side note, isn't it amazing how some people in that far away land of OZ can affect where I fish!???? I'm not done fishing Oconee and as long as Jim and I can take turns driving the gas costs are half as much if that makes sense. On a positive note I have caught some good fish on Oconee this past fall using Live Scope but Jim and I prefer long lining as it is an easy and effective way to fish esp. for old guys. I'm curious and hope others who fish Lake Oconee will give some feedback to this post. Is it just Jim and I or has anyone else noted a change in the Crappie fishing on Oconee?![]()

Since I haven’t been able to fish in a year I can’t attest to a fall of but I was doing very good long lining before my injuries.
