Dutch - had the exact same thing. Injured in Jan (let's call it a skiing incident), surgery in Feb. Almost 7 months post surgery, and 100% full mobility. Strength is still coming - I'm probably at 80%. Here are my suggestions:
    1) Do what the Doctor tells you. That first day home, no pain as the block is still in tact. Start your meds, even if you don't "feel" like you need them. When the block wears off, you will know it.
    2) Go to PT! Absolutely only do what they tell you to do, but do it at home! Stay up on your exercises!!
    3) Be patient - my tear was so bad that the doctor would not let me start strengthen until week 12 - probably why I'm only at 80% now.

I missed most of the spring fishing because of it. If you have friends that can take you, you can still use the one arm. Just be sure to "lock-down" the repaired arm so that you don't try to use is cause you will! There is a few you tube videos where people (one lady in particular) document their weekly journeys. Watch a few of the first four week episodes cause the make some really good suggestions! Most of all, good luck. Sounds like you are in good hands!! We look forward to your posts again next spring!!

Been there done that. Dr. Bill Wiley fixed me good as (almost) new. Other than an e-coli infection, its probably the most painful recovery I've done.

I hope everything goes well and will be praying for a speedy recovery.
At least the crappie will be a little more safe this fall.

Dutch hope the surgery goes well today. You’re in good hands with Macon Orthopedics. Dr Stapleton did might right arm back in 2016. Everything was fine until I fell two months ago and tore the rotator cuff tendon and biceps tendon in both shoulders. Been two weeks since surgery on my left shoulder. No pain at all compared to my first surgery.

Surgery went fine. Yesterday my Right arm felt like a dead fish...lol

Rough night. Couldn't get comfortable for anything.

And when the nerve block fully wore off around 1am...OH MY GOD, the pain brought tears to my eyes.

And I was 2 doses into the Percocet...i cant imagine the intensity if I had not started it when I did.

Not to bad at the moment...about nap time.

I had that type of pain with my first rotator cuff surgery. Pain was awful. Was shocked that I have not had any pain to mention this time around. My shoulder that still needs surgery hurts a lot though.
Your pain should start easing off by the weekend. Take those pain meds and definitely take something for constipation

Dang Dutch...I hate to hear that. No worries about hunting and fishing. It's all going to be waiting on you after recovery. Just do what the Doctors tell you. Good luck with it all.
