    Default 4 weeks...or why I can't wait to retire.

Another weekend with crappy weather. Never fails beautiful 1st part of the week while I have to work, come Thursday, another front with more rain and wind.

    Just what we needed.

Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since I have been on the water, thanks to work and the weather.

I hope this summer turns out to be dry as bone.

    Come on 2024 and retirement!

It’s wonderful and it will be here before you know it.

I’ve been retired about 9 months now. I was really looking forward to this spring and the spawn. Unfortunately between the honey-do’s and this weather (pouring rain or howling wind)I haven’t been more than a handful of times. Bought me a new boat bout a month or so ago and bout got her rigged with rod holders, livescope and such and hope to go soon. I live bout 25-30 minutes from Lake Oconee and hope to get on the “jigging timber” bite and work on my long lining this summer. Fishing during the week has its perks but as soon as school lets out, the water lice (jet skis and wake boats)are terrible. There’s been days that had I not known better I would have sworn I was on Lanier instead of Oconee.

That’s why I fish early in the morning. Those wake boats are hard to deal with.

Dutch, it didnt seem all that long ago when I gave the folks I worked with my "2 year" retirement notice. HA! It didnt seem all that long because as you know the older we get the faster time seems to go by. I retired November 27th of last year. I didnt get alot of hunting in due to the fact my bucks started shedding in December. But this spring I really have enjoyed fishing doing most of it during the week. Even then though it seems to be "busy" on the lake nowadays. I guess alot of folks work those schedules that allow more days off during the weeks rather than just Saturdays and Sundays.

You'll get there............but until you do keep right on working so my SSI check keeps coming in on schedule!

Hopefully when you retire you can fine time to Fish…..if not make time to fish. I try to pick the days of “light and variable winds”. Good luck and hope to see you on the lake….
