Default Hartwell and the coming Christmas cold front.

I haven't fished Hartwell that much, but I know that Eastanollee creek holds some crappie. I am wondering what to expect with the cold front moving thru here on Christmas, and it warming back up nicely by Sunday.

I am in Toccoa, so the upper end of the lake is where I normally fish. What area would you target, and what bait? This winter fishing is totally new to me. I was raised fishing at night, with Coleman lanterns and minnows.

    TIA

I don't see a lot of posts on here about Hartwell. Is the crappie fishing decent on Hartwell. I haven't fished Hartwell in the past 3 or 4 years

Crappie relate to structure for the most part. I live between lakes Oconee and Sinclair. Down here fish deep channel bends and creeks with orientation of north/northwest for warming sun. Deep is relevant to lakes topography. Crappie fishing is decent on all lakes just better on others. You should do well there.

Post frontal crappie will be deep and tight to structure and have a case of lockjaw, they will bite but it will be tough to entice them into doing so.
I would get on deep structure creek/river ledges and tightline small minnows, tight to the cover.

    presentation needs to be slooow.
