Default GOOD MORNING ON OCONEE 6/26/20

Jim and I combo trolled Lake Oconee this morning. The water was 79 degrees when we started and we found plenty of fish in the timber. We trolled 1 mph. I pulled 8 rods. Some of my rods were rigged with double 1/16 oz jigs and some with double 3/32 oz over 1/32 oz. We started catching good fish early and the bite was steady all morning. Later in the morning I added a 1/24 oz sinker to some of my rods and caught the two best fish of the day on those rods. I was reluctant to add additional weight while trolling in timber but it worked out with only a few hang ups. Most of the fish were holding at a depth of 10-15 feet. We caught 21 fish 11-13.5 inches and kept 12 for the skillet. The wind picked up just after lunch and we rolled up at 12:30. I hope you enjoy the video.

Jim we have fished for crappie through the summer. We don't fish as much due to the heat. I caught my biggest crappie in the month of August a few years ago. At that time we were pushing minnows on a #2 Aberdeen hook. The long lining is tougher but we have had good days long lining in summer.
