    Default Need GPS advice

Hey guys! I"m looking to upgrade to a new fishfinder. The last one i bought was 10 years ago (HDS 5). I have it narrowed down to two. Helix 7 MEGA SI or Garmin Echo UHD 73sv? I mainly fish the river but will hit Blackshear and Sinclair during the "crappie" months. Any advice is appreciated.

I just upgraded to helix 7 mega si and it's great. I have caught a lot more fish already because I can see them on the screen.

I always say bigger is better! I have a helix 7 Mega and it’s awesome, but if you could get a bigger screen, do it. Side Imaging cuts down on the search time dramatically because you can see what’s out to the side of you instead of what’s below you. The best coverage you can get with 2d sonar is seeing as much bottom as your depth. 20ft. of water means 20ft cone of bottom you see. But 100ft of side imaging shows you 200ft of EVERYTHING in the water, not just the bottom.
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!
