    Default Garmin Interference

I had to replace my front HB fish finder. I replaced it with a Garmin and it is great BUT when I turn the trolling motor on I get bad interference. There was no interference with HB.

Have any of you had this issue?

I had that issue years ago with my old MK Powerdrive 2 and a HB 575 DI unit... it took several ferrite cores to fix the problem. My HB 999SI came with a pre installed choke on the power cord. My Garmin has something similar.

Some good info on the subject here...

I have tried all this in thir article and many fixes on Youtube but nothing has fixed it yet. It seems to be an issue with Garmin and quite common. I am going to try this fix and if this fails, the Garmin is gone.

I have older 2013 model MK terrova and had interference with Sonar on HB, Lowrance and Garmin units even after adding several core chokes.
I don't think the newer MK motors have this problem.
I removed the transducers from TM and mounted on pole it eliminated the interference. I also raised TM higher and lowered transducers on pole.

Well, guess I will stick with Humminbird when I get a new front unit later this year.

I got back at 1230 today and by 2PM my problem was fixed. Garmin came with a metal strap to hold the TD on. I took it off and used a tie strap. Problem gone......hard to compute on dis but that was it. Garmin is worth it.

    Good to hear it.

BTW so much fail in that video you posted, I don't know where to start.. I'll just say that is not the way to troubleshoot interference, or not the way I do it, and I have zero interference issues with both my Humminbird and my Garmin. Rock solid.
