I like your persistence. It is paying dividends.
Today I caught (and released) at least 50-60 crappie fishing 0700-1300, up north end off Chestatee. I will post some pictures as I get to them, but this picture shows all my secrets in one pic:
The hand-tied gold JDM jig, Livescope trees lit up with crappie, nibbles at my feet (gotta figure out a better way to handle them because Lanier crappie seem to love them). I long-lined for no more than a half hour, with two fish right over some trees I found last time. I could not resist stopping and single-pole jigging, and that was it for trolling. I tried a few colors, and the crappie were biting the JDM glow/fools gold/chartreuse 1.5 g jig as soon as I put it in their face, just like last time. I also caught some on red/white/chart 1/32 hand-tie, and black/gray/chart, but mostly they wanted the gold.
Most of the fish were on the small side, around 9", but I did manage a few over 12". I released all fish today, and I left them biting. I found two new trees, marked waypoints, and tomorrow I'm going back to look for new ones. I'm slowly working the creek from ramp to river looking for fish on brush in SI, then targeting with jig and Livescope. Finding the crappie is straightforward, but I am not finding the big fish (yet). Trying to decide where to go tomorrow!

Thanks. Like I said, the crappie were mostly on the small side, but it is very exciting when you first spot a tree lit up like Christmas with crappie on the screen. You ease over and catch a few, if small, you move on after catching a couple. I love it. I went from having no clue how to catch a crappie here for months, and then a gadget, plus info from this forum, made all the difference. I tip my hat and raise a glass to all. Thanks.
At Oconee last week, the fish were much bigger than Lanier crappie I've caught so far, and I am thinking of going back Thursday. I don't know if the slabs will be stacked on the timber like last time, and I am curious if they will even be there. It sure looked like turnover was underway last time I went; junk floating about, and murky water.

Wish I had the time to get out and scout on Lanier more. It’s a shame I’m 5mins from the ramp but have to go to Toona or Oconee to catch em.
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!

I also live in Cumming and have been wanting to out all summer but there has not been time.
Hoping to be able to go out soon with my 11yr old son and get him hooked on fishing :-). Great pics and nice job on figuring out where to catch them!
